#MigraineBuddy - #Daretoshare - the power of the user community!
The increasing cost of healthcare and advances in technology now mean that an individual can, and should be, empowered in their own health. Migraine Buddy is continually refining its migraine recording and tracking app to put more control in the individuals hands. By consistently recording, providing reports and building mutual trust, individuals and healthcare providers can work together more effectively to manage migraine attacks. Migraine awareness is low but affects 1 in 7 people.
With over 1.8 million people in Migraine Buddy’s user community, we believe that it’s time to ‘Dare to Share’ and have a conversation about it.
According to the Migraine Research Foundation statistics:
Everyone either knows someone who suffers from migraine, or struggles with migraine themselves.
Migraine is the 3rdmost prevalent illness in the world.
Nearly 1 in 4 U.S. households includes someone with migraine.
18% of American women, 6% of men, and 10% of children experience migraines.
Migraine is most common between the ages of 18 and 44.
Migraine tends to run in families. About 90% of migraine sufferers have a family history of migraine.
Most people don’t realize how serious and incapacitating migraine can be.
Migraine is the 6thmost disabling illness in the world.
Every 10 seconds, someone in the U.S. goes to the emergency room complaining of head pain, and approximately 1.2 million visits are for acute migraine attacks.
More than 90% of sufferers are unable to work or function normally during their migraine.
Migraine is an invisible chronic disease. 1 billion people globally are affected. That correlates to 1 in 7 people you meet having a form of migraine. Migraines affect work productivity, healthcare costs and most importantly, quality of life.
Understanding and awareness is low, with a lot of stigma around this invisible disease. Currently only 1 in 4 patients manage to get diagnosed, of them it took more than 2 years to be diagnosed correctly. There are farmore patients who are not diagnosed at all.
At Migraine Buddy, we have a user community of 1.8 million people. Through the ‘Dare to Share’ initiative, we are encouraging everyone to talk to people about migraine and understand that tracking triggers and patterns can greatly help in reducing migraine days. We can all help each other to take control and live the best life possible.
Migraine Buddy, powered by Healint, is a free app that helps users track and record their migraines. These records can then be exported into reports users can share with their doctor. An important part of Migraine Buddy is that we empower the patient to have the best information and share accordingly with your healthcare professional so that our users can effectively use the time in their doctor appointments.
The power is put in the hands of the patients!
